The Episcopal Church

Episcopal Churches, along with many other denominations, express their faith through two historic creeds, or short statements of faith: The Apostle’s Creed and The Nicene Creed. These creeds sum up the Christian faith of billions of people around the world. One of these two creeds is usually recited during each service in an Episcopal Church.

Our worship is based on the Book of Common Prayer, and we pray using four readings from Holy Scripture in most services. Many of our prayers are based on Scripture passages.

The Episcopal Diocese of Georgia

If you’re not familiar with the word “Diocese” in the text above, it means a set of churches in a certain geographical district under the supervision of a bishop. St. Patrick’s is a member of the Diocese of Georgia, a group of 70 Episcopal churches in the southern half of Georgia. The Episcopal churches in the northern half of Georgia are members of the Diocese of Atlanta. Our bishop is the Right Reverend Frank Logue, and our diocesan headquarters building is located at 18 E. 34th Street, Savannah, GA.
